"Process rather than result" is a good way to put it. One of my mentors is a retired General Electric exec. One of his favorite things to do was remind employees (I worked with him) to focus on the process and let results follow. He would say "A Toyota is a Toyota because they dialed in the process. Other manufacturers didn't."
